Fate is an interesting concept with many definitions. many people believe that their whole life is predetermined by fate and there is nothing they can do about it. In Shakespeare's play Macbeth Macbeth commits many heinous crimes after he was given information from the witches. Although some may say that in Shakespeare's play Macbeth, Macbeth is not to blame for his cruel actions this is false, Macbeth was given information on the beach, he saw a floating dagger, and went to see the witches, none of these things forced him to take any action or threatened to harm him if he didn't kill anyone.
Although many people may believe that Macbeth was predetermined by fate, and greatly influenced by the witches to take the actions he did they base this off of a quote from the book “is this a dagger i see before me, The handle toward my hand? they tell him, “All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Glamis! All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor! All hail, Macbeth! that shalt be king hereafter!” (Shakespeare 1.3.217) while the witches saying this may have influenced Macbeth they did not force Macbeth to kill King Duncan to become king. Macbeth could have easily gone either way as he shows later on by saying “We will proceed no further in this business He hath honored me of late, and i have bought golden opinions of all sorts of people , which would be worn now in their newest gloss, Not cast aside so soon.” (Shakespeare 1.7.228) in saying this macbeth shows that he not only has control over his own actions but also that the witches have not influenced him so much as to make up his mind for him they are merely informing him on what is to happen not telling him how it will happen. When Macbeth says this the reader can clearly see that fate has nothing to do with Macbeth's actions it is up to him to decide his own fate and create his own
