It is believed that God himself selects who rules as king. Therefore, if a one commits regicide, they would be enforcing their will over God’s will. As a result, the Great Chain of Being has been disrupted causing an imbalance in the natural order. Since evil has caused a shift in the natural order, unnatural and ominous events occur such as violent winds and strange screams of death. It is important to note that these unnatural events occur during the night of the murder because this proves that these unnatural events are nature’s reaction towards the evil deeds that Macbeth commits. Another example of Macbeth’s increase in power occurs after the death of the king. Lady Macbeth’s desire to achieve the highest social rank drives her to throw away her compassion and femininity, as seen in the quote “Come, you spirits That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here” (I, v, 44-45).” After attacking Macbeth’s manhood, she successfully convinces him to carry out her plan to murder King Duncan, resulting in the crowning of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth as King and Queen, respectively. Following Duncan’s murder, the disturbance of the Great Chain is manifested in the natural world, as a sign of the severe consequences that will ensue after committing such a heinous crime; after all, the King is of the highest order of men, and is supposed to be appointed by God (characters in the play notice a change in the behavior of animals, such as when a hawk is killed by an owl and a horse runs wild, which signifies a disturbance in the chain of being). Wherever evil is present, the natural world reacts accordingly; therefore, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth will meet a fateful demise for committing the ultimate act of defiance.…

The supernatural holds a significant role in Macbeth’s downfall, as does Lady Macbeth’s deceptive influence. Both assist in the corruption of the Chain of Being and upheaval of the natural order. Macbeth’s tragedy sparks from his ambition, his fatal flaw, in which it is debatable that he was responsible for his own downfall. His murderous aspiration was a part of his arrogant personality from the beginning. Through foreshadowing, Macbeth considers his “black and deep desires” earlier in the play.…

Film portrayals of classic literature have recently become popular. Studios use their creative freedom and budgets to display the works of literary artists in inventive ways. For example, many of William Shakespeare’s texts have been adapted to film (i.e. Romeo and Juliet, Antony and Cleopatra, Hamlet, etc.). One of these numerous adaptions is Macbeth (2010). While the transfer from text to screen frequently flops, it can be argued that this representation of Macbeth is successful in its attempt to accurately carry out the task.…

I think that what time a certain play is written affects how a reader may view a play, like William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” he had written this play 411 years ago in 1606, plays that are written now have a different aspect of how a play may be because William Shakespeare lived in a completely different era. A play from over 2,000 years ago would be completely different from a play from a couple centuries, because William Shakespeare made plays during the 1600s, like Hamlet, Macbeth and Othello. Plays from ancient greece 2,000 years ago are completely different because plays from ancient greece and William Shakespeare are both in different eras of time, and have different writers with different perspectives of life. Modern dramas are based on…
