Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, a football field, in an army, or in an office.” In other words, the key to be a successful leader that the people love, is to have the respect and compassion for the citizens that you are ruling. Similarly in Macbeth by William Shakespeare, once Macbeth started to alienate his close friends and forget who he truly is, he started to focus more on the power aspect rather than having integrity for the people. This claim can be supported by Machiavelli, Plato,Macbeth,and other quotes that relate to these three people.
First of all, collaborative leadership is all about respect because if you respect the people and they honor you then everything will be helpful for you in the long run. In the play Macbeth, Macbeth was one of the many people that a lot of the people respected and honor before he became the king because at that time someone who protected the people and fought for them was one of the most important traits a higher up war hero like Macbeth. On the other hand, as Macbeth became king, he forgot what it felt like to be loved and honored by the people. Stated in Macbeth,” I have no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only vaulting ambition, which o'erleaps itself and falls on the other.”(Macbeth, Act 1 scene 7 lines 25-28) What he means is that he truly doesn’t have a good reason to kill Duncan because he is a great king but he just wanted to kill Duncan for more power. For example towards the end of the book Macbeth tries to show that he is the king and he can control people whenever he wants;”The devil damn thee black, thou cream-faced loon! “ Where got'st thou that goose look? “There is ten thousand.”Geese, villain?”Soldiers,sir.”(Macbeth source A) Macbeth said the first sentence before the servant had the chance to even speak. This shows that since he's now the king, he has the power to bark out commands whenever he feels like it. What Macbeth is doing here is he's trying to imitate the poor frightened servant because at this point in the book he has a zero mortality left in him and he could care less about the people around him. On the other hand President Donald Trump said about a few hundred times “make america great again.” This relates to decency because he wants to make the country better for the people in it. Likewise, Trump is also like Plato in that he does not want to be fully authoritative: he has many advisors to help him make decisions, much like Plato’s philosophers.(Source F) Moreover, while watching the video called “what is leadership?” it showed the life of a captain running an army boat and what they had to do.
