Macbeth Essay Betrayal can come from anyone regardless of the person. Macbeth was a Scottish nobleman and a leader in the king’s army. The witches predicted that he’ll ultimately become king. This led him to betray everyone in his path to achieve his destiny to become king. The challenge is that can he stay king? Macbeth’s greed for power led him to betray many people, even those close to him. Macbeth killed the king, who was his cousin; he also killed Banquo, a close friend. One of them was Macbeth’s friend Macduff. Macbeth’s cruelty played a big part in causing them to betray him.Macbeth shouted at a soldier before the battle, “Don’t look so white and afraid! What soldier milk face?”(Act Five, Scene Three).This shows how cruel Macbeth was to his soldiers. This can hurt their feelings. This is one of the reasons why they betrayed him. Macduff went to Malcolm in England to start a rebellion against Macbeth. It turned out that Malcolm has already prepared an army. “Before you came I was ready to go to Scotland with ten thousand men and now we go together.”(Act Four Scene Three) This shows that they are preparing an army to overthrow Macbeth, their king. This is a form of betrayal. Here we see betrayal, not only by Macbeth, but by his nobleman. We also know what the source of it all is. To sum up, Macbeth’s greed was the source of all betrayal in the story. Lady Macbeth’s deception made Macbeth kill King Duncan.
