Macbeth Argument Analysis

Shakespeare has written a numerous amount of captivating plays, but Macbeth is on the top of the list. Within this play there is so much excitement, horror, and betrayal all in one. Whether it is a trio of witches appearing, committing murder, or keeping secrets. Macbeth is a beautifully written play that will definitely have you on the edge of your seat. In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, Macbeth had just come back from a battle where he is named a hero, and later receives a prophecy by three witches who approach him and say that he will be the king, the thane of Cawdor, and the thane of Glamis. Of course people from Scotland have their own accent, but what if Macbeth was written here in the United States? It would be a complete shift from past to present. The whole setting of the play, would change from the old times to more modern times. Here in the United States only a majority of citizens have accents, but the most significant detail is the fact that they all speak the English language. When opening the first page in the book Macbeth I was surprisingly confused. If Macbeth were to be written in the United States instead of Scotland, it would actually change the whole viewpoint and pronunciation of the words that are being used. With Macbeth being written in the United States instead of Scotland, it would actually benefit many people in advancing their knowledge from this play. Not to mention that if Macbeth was written in the United States, that means the language would completely change within the play as well. Meaning, that English would be the main language in this tragic play. For example, in Macbeth it states,” What he hath lost, noble Macbeth hath won.” Just by looking at this example it is easy to say that this line is difficult to even just try and understand the meaning. Many have noticed in the No Fear Shakespeare version that there is an english translation on the right side of every page. In Macbeth and several other plays, they are mainly written in the certain style and structure that he wants. Also, his work is written in iambic pentameter at times. In the play, I do not think Shakespeare uses this particular language and structure to make it harder to understand. Maybe this play is written this particular way to reveal the character's inner thoughts, and to make them sound more dramatic with every word they say. However, Shakespeare could have actually written Macbeth in English while still revealing character's inner thoughts even with the change of language. For example, in Macbeth it states,” My ever gentle cousin, welcome hither.” All that it was saying was“ my noble kinsman welcome.” The simple change of language could make everything seem so much
