Chaos was incorporated following the act of macbeth killing his king, with imagery displaying the effects of such. By Macbeth killing his king, he has thrown off the natural order of things, as kings were seen as being representatives of god. When macbeth killed his king, it was said that an owl was seen killing a falcon, and horses were eating their own kind. By macbeth disrupting the natural order, he has caused nature to go against its own order. This shows that macbeth has done something so horrific and disturbing that even the land itself is in disagreement. Light and Darkness, one used to indicate something bad is about to happen, the other represents life and joy. When the witches speak to macbeth about the prophecies, this is done in the dark. Duncan is murdered during the night, when the sky provided a dark covering, and acted as a way of covering up any guilty crimes committed. When Banquo is murdered, it is said by one of the murderers “Who did strike out the light?”. Banquo was seen as a good man who was loyal and had a good soul. When he is murdered, the light is gone, the goodness and kindness being banquet has been extinguished.
