Hamlet kills for revenge on Claudius since he killed Hamlet’s father. In order to get revenge, Hamlet is going to kill Claudius. Along the way, though, Hamlet kills others that get in his way. For instance, Polonius is killed because he was spying on Hamlet and Gertrude. Hamlet stabs whoever was behind the curtain hoping it was Claudius (Hamlet). He does not mean to kill Polonius, however, he is useless. Continuing on with the play, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern has sealed letters that order for Hamlet to be killed now. Hamlet is too smart for them, though. He switches the letters with ones that order for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to be killed. Since Hamlet kills Polonius, Claudius agrees with Laertes in a dual for revenge. Laertes will place a little poison on the end of his sword, while Claudius puts some poison in Hamlet’s drink. However, Hamlet is winning the dual and never gets a drink. The plan is not working, so he slices his arm. This makes Hamlet mad, and they get into a fist fight.
