Thirty years ago, students attending Wahconah Regional High School had a different experience as they went through their normal activities of the year. For example, if a student were to play two sports throughout the course of an academic year, they did not have to pay a sports fee (today that fee is $100). Why is that? The answer is simple. Funding is different because the tax system imposed on the seven surrounding towns.…

Fresno Pacific university is a non-profit Christian university founded by the Mennonite Brethren Church as a post-secondary school in 1944 (Fresno Pacific University, 2016). The school’s current student population is estimated around 3500, and a majority of students are either enrolled as traditional undergraduate, Degree Completion or are in a Graduate program. The paper provides an overview of college design, how the hierarchical structure of communication works within the university and in what way the decisions are made to the success or disadvantage of the university. A recommended redesign for improved communication is described, which is grounded on the change process utilized by Kotter’s (1997) eight steps for effective change in an organization. It also discusses the feasibility of incorporating the recommendations at Fresno Pacific university.…
honors classes to them just because they assume they will not be capable to handle them. There is not a motivation to encourage them to take highly demanding courses, and since they are new in the system, they are unable to complain for something different. In addition, even if they complain, they are excluded from the option of taking a harder class because of the English level they can handle. The argument is unfair for those who excel in mathematical and scientific ability but lack of English proficiency.…
As his father drove him to school he encouraged his son to show some of his teachers. He walked into his school like any normal day, passing all of the security checkpoints without a problem. In his morning engineering class he showed his teacher his homemade clock. The teacher responded with “ That’s really nice, but keep it your backpack and don't show anyone.” In his english class, he plugged it in and set up the time, causing the clock to beep.…
He is a fourteen year old Muslim boy that took a homemade clock to school and teachers thought it was a bomb. The teachers made the cops get involved and he also got suspended. I don’t think this was right because it was something that is helping his learning. Teachers always say to do work outside of class and that will help you learn more. That was he was doing showing his engineering teacher what he had done.…

They never expect to be harassed or shamed. If a student brings an experiment to school to show off to a teacher, they expect the teacher to be excited and impressed, especially if they make a fully functional clock of out minimal materials. The student would not expect the teacher to turn on them. They would not expect the teacher to accuse them of something that simply is not true, and then take them to be placed in handcuffs and taken to the police station. It seems like an impossible scenario, but it happened to Ahmed Mohamed.…
On his way to school, he brought an alarm clock that he made himself to his technology teacher. Impressed with the craftsmanship, his teacher also expressed that he shouldn’t display his invention to other teachers. Later that day, Ahmed’s clock began to beep and disrupt his English class. Showing the class his creation, officials at the school notified the Huston Police department that Ahmed had a bomb. He was taken off of school property in handcuffs and suspended that same day.…
