On their search across the island, they come across Macarthur, who seems to be rambling on about the end. They decide to label him as crazy, and continue on. They then learn that Lombard has come with a gun. This causes Blore to become uncomfortable around him, and think of him as the murderer. They come across a big cliff, and decide to search it, but they find nothing.

    Philip Caputo’s A Rumor of War tells the story of a man’s demoralization during the Vietnam war and how it is associated with a refusal to any direct guilt for his own actions in that war. Throughout the book, you can sense the murderousness that comes from Caputo due to several reasons. Although, at the end of the book, he does not confess this murderousness urge that he experienced during his time in Vietnam.
