Harrison stated that it is not uncommon for some of her clients to spend night in shelter with other family members or AWOL for a weekend before untimely returning to the foster home. Ms. Harrison explained that when questioned, some of her clients provide conflicting stories as to their whereabouts during a particular timeframe. There are three questions I would ask the agency, 1) What forms of outreach do you use to target men who have sex with men (MSM)?, 2) What barriers might exist to prevent MSM from coming to your facility to get tested for HIV?, 3) What facilitators do you provide to circumvent barriers or serve as incentives for MSM to use your services for testing purposes? I would want to understand whether or not there attempts to target MSM for testing was effective. Depending on the methods they use, I may suggest trying other methods such as improving ad campaigns, increasing presence on social media, or setting up booths at PRIDE events.
