The project, “Cardiac gating on Spinal cord Diffusion MRI and motion correction”, could not suite the best of my potential interest. However, I have successfully completed the first semester (Jan – April 2016), learned the basics of Python; Shell scripting, Spinal Cord Toolbox and performed a literature review. In addition, I have scored grade A in a course at McGill (Advanced Medical Imaging, winter 2016).

TProfessor Conner: I feel that the only thing patient worries about is getting the care they need to cure their medical condition. Now whether this includes advanced technology or not really would not concern them, yet the still would expect the providers of care to do whatever needs to be done to make them feel better. With this in mind I feel that most patients are not concerned of what the cost of the care would be, unless it would directly effect their pocket book. I could take myself as an example, I am looking to having an MRI done in the near future and my husband is just receiving his insurance benefits. His benefits package has a deductible of $1000.00 and a maximum OOP of $6000.00 for preferred providers of care.…

The development of the MRI (Magnetic Resonance Image) machine has changed the medical world for the better. One of the first points about the MRI is that it was created by Professor Raymond Damadian in 1977. The first time the MRI machine was used, it took a total of five hours to do the whole scan. My interest in medicine was first sparked when I volunteered at CentraState Medical Center working with geriatric patients. To further explore this interest, I joined the First Aid Squad in my town. Riding on ambulances and volunteering at the squad provided much-needed insight into the field and taught me valuable skills, such as patient care and effective communication. After completing a four-month intensive EMT course and state exam, I can proudly say that I am now a New Jersey certified EMT.…

Since a very young age, I have had an interest in, and enjoyed caring for others when they are sick or injured. I was not sure what area of study I wanted to pursue a career in, but I knew that I had an affinity for the sciences and the medical field. It wasn't until two years later, my Junior year, that radiography became the area of the medical field that I knew I wanted to concentrate on. I have been a cheerleader since third grade.…
