MPH Competencies
In the beginning I visualized opportunities for the YMCA such as: introducing new communication and education avenues such as Pinterest, taking a public health systems approach with Missouri State University to encourage use of Activetrax and the importance of nutrition, find realistic opportunities for the YMCA to enrich the nutrition education part of Activetrax with basic statistical methods, apply research principals to class count data, and develop public health interventions to evaluate Activetrax. These opportunities are mentioned as part of the expected MPH competencies for the internship plan and so they as well as three Discipline-Specific Competencies and three Interdisciplinary Core Competencies will be in the following …show more content…
Logically however there would be the maintenance of the pool’s chlorine level to kill pathogens without harming people as well as the physical integrity to the pool’s surrounding structure to prevent physical harm. There would also be maintenance of the locker room bathrooms and shower stalls that I have not seen, however can imagine that it would be a part of environmental services regular cleaning duties and a YMCA group effort during deep cleaning events for all …show more content…
A multidisciplinary field of inquiry and practice concerned with the delivery, quality and costs of health care for individuals and populations. This area normally involves concern with the structure, process and outcomes of health services including the costs, financing, organization, outcomes and accessibility of care. For the YMCA this area was witnessed and practiced as a wellness coach in the enforcement of the various rules and policies the YMCA has to protect members and the facility. Such policies included ensuring weights are not dropped and that younger members are following policy on the equipment they are allowed to
