At some point in time in their development, most people encounter an adult figure, who instills a positive change in their lives. For me, that person was Cindy Scannella--my track and my cross country coach for my first two years of high school. With her unique approach to coaching, Coach Scannella not only gave me the confidence to flourish in the sport and lead my team, but she also gifted me with a love for running. This passion of mine as well as her continual support has carried me through the difficulties of my grandfather’s death, my parents’ divorce, and other strenuous circumstances including the end of her time as my coach. Her presence in my life has truly altered my life for the better.…

As a junior at Northville High School, I am already discovering my passion for business through my participation and leadership roles in organizations such as DECA. I have obtained not only extensive marketing and general business knowledge through self-studying for competitive tests, but also practical communication, presentation, and sales skills while representing various business professionals in judged roleplay scenarios. I have placed at the district, state, and international level in my events, and this year I will have competed at the International Career Development Conference for my third year. Since my freshman year of high school, my passion for agriculture has flourished. I did not come from an agricultural background as my parents worked for the State and Amtrak, but I was intrigued about California’s leading industry. Up until my freshman year in high school, the closest I had gotten to agriculture was when I would grow a garden of vegetables during the spring for fresh produce. I became involved in my school’s FFA chapter and was infatuated with the FFA from the start. I saw it as a way to become involved as well as to expand my leadership and social skills.…

I am writing to express my interest in the Winning Women Undergraduate Experience in Asset Management, which I had learned about last spring through a coffee chat session with Columbia College Young Alumni (CCYA). I am currently a sophomore pursuing a major in Economics and Mathematics, at Barnard College of Columbia University. My academic work and technical internships have strengthened my understanding and interest in financial services. As someone who seeks out opportunities to learn and improve my analytical skills, communication skills, and financial services knowledge, this event would give me valuable insight on JPMorgan’s recruiting process and help prepare me for a future career in financial services.…

As a health conscious individual and as a health and social care student, my enthusiasm has always been geared towards good health, particularly on the impact of nutrition on reinforcing and maintaining quality health. The rise in nutrition related issues, such as obesity, demonstrates the increasing need of nutritionists and dietitians in providing guidance on this matter and reaching out to individuals who require guidance, especially as I believe that nutrition related illnesses result not only in physical ailments, but affect one’s mental health too. Aiming to become a qualified practitioner in this field, I am aware of the importance of particular skills such as communication and interpersonal skills, especially as I will be required…

Reflection On Professional Organizations I have been conducting research on some professional organizations and I have determined that ASHP would be a good match for me. This is because ASHP is an organization that is heavily involved in advocating legislation to benefit pharmacists, patients, and the health care system. Some of the most important issues to me are getting the pharmacist more involved in a patient’s health care and to make health care in general more efficient. ASHP is attempting to accomplish these tasks by actively advocating legislation to meet their goals.…
