Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE): I would want to be familiar with the MMSE because its quick and easy assessment tool used to indicate impairment in orientation, registration, attention and calculation, recall, as well as language and praxis. As individuals age, their cognitive abilities tend to decline. Therefore, I would use this assessment to determine if client has any impairments in their cognition that would limit their performance in occupations. This assessment would help guide my interventions and treatment plan to accommodate for the individual if there is impairment present.
