MLA Writing Style

Reading: I have only used Purdue OWL as an APA or MLA writing guide. I did not realize it was also a resource to improve on one’s writing technique. Learning to write paragraphs using the PREP Method and completing assignments that have a word limit, has increased my awareness of my tendency to write very wordy paragraphs. Purdue OWL has a section specifically related to writing with conciseness. Under “Conciseness,” Purdue OWL writes, “Like bad employees, words that don't accomplish enough should be fired” (owl.english.purdue.edu). It goes on to give examples of a “wordy” sentence, in comparison with a “concise” sentence.
