The research that was found regarding the long- term effects of MCT included increased severity of laryngeal muscle tension, worsened longitudinal gap, vocal cysts, and vocal quality decreases due to increased intensity and hoarse vocal quality both months and years post- treatment (Roy et al.,1997; Van Lierde, Claeys, De Bodt, van Cauwenberge, 2007). This questions how long voice therapy should be maintained and how soon follow- up visits should be required.
