All the flashbacks, signs , and evidence come together at the end. Shyamalan used the question, Are there really no coincidences? Does everything happen for a reason? Shyamalan effectively reveals his theme all throughout the film.

The character Graham didn’t believe in the aliens but the children did. Graham didn’t have faith in God anymore because he felt like God let his wife die. People struggle with faith everyday.
