In the short story “The Jewelry” is based on a woman who is married to M. Lantin which she loves the theatre and false jewelry. M. Lantin being the happiest man to be with her beloved wife which she ended up dying due to pneumonia. My attitude toward M. Lantin starts of thinking of him being rude by the way he would act towards his wife she would invite him to attend the theatre with him but rejects going. Theatre and her false jewelry was what he disliked the most about her. Although I do admire that he had much courage, honesty, and compassion towards her.
Admiring his courage, he had to sell his wife “false jewelry” for so he thought it was false. For one who one loves dearly and selling their favorite things after death takes lots of courage to no longer feel shame. After his

Lantin had much honesty towards his wife for to say she was not all that honest towards him. Coming home straight form work feeling tired and not doing nothing else that evening but wanted to rest. M. Lantin would not go out as his wife did she would always go to theatre and wearing her jewelry. Soon to find out when he got an estimate of how much her jewelry was worth knowing she came from a poor family. That his wife was receiving jewelry and money from someone else. M. Lantin was always there for her when she needed him the most, working hard to maintain his wife and himself of course she brought him happiness even more since they got married.
Definitely admired his compassion towards her got my attention the most. M. Lantin would compliment her letting his wife know her “natural beauty and grace are the rarest jewels”. Therefore, she does not need jewelry to look beautiful just by her natural beauty she is perfect his meaning of rarest jewels. Also when his wife death happened he was really hurt about it that he kept everything in the same exact place to remind him of her. His compassion for her was deep as to say he lock himself inside her room every evening to think about

The sorrowful and depressive traits of The Woman are presented to us in a manner that is foreign to those who don’t know it, and intensely daunting to those who do. As well as this matter, the husband is presented to not understand what she is facing, thus highlighting the emotional isolation she felt on more of a personal level. The narrator states, “The sight of them made her so sad and sick she did not want to see them ever again. She told the husband these thoughts. He was attuned to her; he understood such things.…

Because of her greed, Mathilde lost ten years of youth, leaving everything behind, and is forced to reside as a ragged housewife. De Maupassant informed the reader of Madame Loisel’s longing for wealth and her ungratefulness for what she has, through his use of anaphora. In As I Lay Dying there is the question of whether or not the Burdens are trying to honor each other or trying to betray each other before and after the death of Addie. The characters in the novel are met with many difficult situations in which very difficult decisions must be made. Most often it would appear that the characters try to solve these situations in ways that help themselves the most, rather than the others. However, there are some instances in which their seemingly selfish acts are justified and what would seem like an attempt to cause a struggle for others was actually an attempt to help the others from going through with something they don 't have to.…
