Lynn White Jr. accuses the very basis for why humans are destroying the earth in his article in Science Magazine. His claims are rash and accusatory toward any of the Western Christian denominations with little biblical evidence aside from the story of creation. When referencing the Bible, it should be considered as a whole not just the very beginning of creation. In Genesis, it says “The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.” Man was created for the land not the land for man. God put man on Earth in order to care for it His intentions were never for man to exploit nature. Over time, as man became sinful, they became indifferent to the feelings of nature, but this was never God’s initial plan.
