Intimate Apparel written by Lynn Nottage a play about a single, middle aged lady named Esther from New York, who makes a living from sewing and making corsets. As she turned 35 she felt old and lonely as she has not gotten married yet and is seeking for the right man. As one day Mrs.Dickson the lady where she stays with gives her a letter, it was from a man she never met named George Armstrong it was a lovely letter and she got some help from her rich friend which she sells the corsets to respond to it. As she reply to the letters George says that he is coming down to meet her so they can get mary. As for Esther she feels lonely when she turned 35 that she falls easily in love with the mysterious man from the letter. As she falls for the sweet words he sends in the letters, that she accepts marrying him when he asked her in written. She has never meet this men and her life but her loneliness and the sweet talk from the letter she accepted the marriage. She was in love with George she made him a niece fancy looking Jacket, and whenever he asked for some money she will give it to him. He even persuade her to give her all the money she had in the quilt she saved up from sewing that he will use it to get more money and maker her the beauty parlor. As she new it was all a lie and when she found out that he was cheating on her with Mayme giving her the jacket Esther made him. Esther had more dignity leaving that guy she supposedly love to start fresh and sew things back to make that beauty parlor she always dreamed off. This values applies to the real word as a women one feels lonely and sometimes needs a men to make her feel beautiful and feel love they forget about their dreams in life.
