She has to oversee the store’s inventory, purchasing and the supply of shoes. Further, she determines the need for hiring employees and plans for staff development. Lyndsey also has a role in financial management where she budgets and control cost to keep the store on a sound financial track. Lyndsey also has a goal setting role and establishing the policies for the departments that she manages, as well, facilitates communication between employees and departments.
In the execution of duty, Lyndsey uses various managerial skills. For instance, her computer and writing skills are used in financial management, goal setting and in the making of communications. Time management skills are very important to keep the store operating to her standards as operation manager. Human skills are paramount when working in a retail environment, are used utilized to insure that there is a balance in the performance of multiple tasks at once. Lyndsey ensures that she identifies all the obligations that the company owes to each of the stakeholders after which she organizes the public relations of the company in a manner that all these obligations are met (Giacalone & Thompson, 2006). The primary stakeholders of the company are the shareholders, employees, and customers. The operations manager must ensure that the image of the company is maintained by the addition of value to the shareholders.
