Who was Lyndon B. Johnson. Well i am here to tell you that he was one of the many Civil Rights Activists. Lyndon B. Johnson was born on August 27, 1908. In a small town called Stonewall located in Texas. But was raised in a small farm house. Johnson was oldest child out of the five siblings he had.Johnson had one brother, and three sister. While growing up Johnson had German, Ulster, and English ancestry. All thought out school, Johnson was not the most outgoing kid. But soon came his 11th grade class in which he was elected to be the president of it. Johnson was know for the youngest kid in his class. He was one of the only students to graduate school at the age of only 15. Johnson was a graduate from Johnson City High School in 1924. He …show more content…
Johnson was the 36th President of the United States of America. He was also the the 37th Vice President.Johnson was a heavy smoker regularly smoking 3 packs a day. He almost really died while in the White house.Johnson has a heart attack on July 2, 1955 from smoking too much. Johnson decided to give up smoking until he was out of the White House on January 20, 1969. After being so successful as a Senate. This had opened the door for Johnson once again and this time the door for Democratic presidential candidate. Johnson entered the campaign late in July 1960. Towards the end of the 1960 Johnson had some how managed to not only win election for vice presidency of the United States, but also service a third term as U.S. Senate again. Johnson served as Vice President of the Unites States from 1961 to 1963 only a 3 year term. While in office Johnson had a lot on his mind. He wanted to some how increase his power in the Executive Branch. But was not very successful. After ending his 3 year term as Vice President from 1961 to 1963. Johnson became the 37th President of the United States. Johnson was made President only after just 2 hours and 8 minutes. Shortly after John F. Kennedy was killed. Johnson was so successful at taking over a president because he wanted to carry out John F. Kennedy's plans and legacy. Lyndon B.Johnson made a lot of major contributions to the Civil Rights. The Democratic Party was highly supportive of Johnson all throughout his career. As the President of the Unites States he was able to design the Great Society. In the Great Society several programs were launched, in the United States. Lyndon B. Johnson goal in launching the Great Society was get rid of poverty and most of all racial injustice. The Great Society Program was promoted to the people by the President Johnson and member of the Congress. Following the Great Society the Civil Rights Bill was signed by Johnson. The Civil Rights Bill was passed to ban racial discrimination. The
