Lutena's Ecstasy: A Narrative Fiction

Superior Essays
Lutena was strolling through the bushy terrain, when she heard a rustle among the trees. She started making her footsteps light, careful for an animal and quiet for an intruder. Then all of a sudden Jason jumped out with warning. “Look out!” he shouted. Lutena jumped and turned around and gasped all at once. “Don’t ever do that again!” She slapped him on the arm. Jason flinched. “Hey, it’s not my fault you’re too fun to scare.” “Rude,” Lutena responded. Today they were in the forest to cut down trees for their lumber. They had the plan to stock up on firewood for fire. After about two hours, they completed their task. Then Lutena noticed a man with a ton of supplies in his hands, making them full.
“Don’t worry, I’m coming!” Lutena cried.

Her hazel eyes complementing her pale skin, and her long, wavy black hair pulled into a ponytail. “Well, thank you Lutena. What a beautiful name. I’m Shing. Why don’t you come tonight?” “We would love to!” “We?” “Yes, Jason and I. “ At that moment, the odds hit him. Jason could’ve been her boyfriend. Despite her good looks, he was good looking as well. Lutena did not look like a farmer with her pale skin, but Jason certainly did. He was muscular, with a reasonable height for Lutena. His brown hair shimmered in the sun, making Shing feel a bit jealous. “Oh yes, of course. Both of you can come.” Shing immediately started disliking Jason. And a part of him didn’t want the meeting to include Jason.
As Lutena was having her conversation with Shing, Jason was thinking of making a move on Lutena. He found her attractive, and he had the feeling that she felt the same way. He was so into his thoughts that when Lutena walked up to him and asked him a question, Jason did not notice. Lutena shook him.
“Huh, what happened?”
“We are going over to Shing’s house tonight. He’s the guy I ran up to.”
“Oh, alright. Is he nice?”
“Oh, yes. He invited us over on his

“Come on in,” invited Shing.
“I’m Jason.”
“Ah, yes.”
They shook hands and Shing’s envy took over.

The three had a wonderful time, getting to know one another. Shing was surprised that Jason was a really genuine person, but the hatred was still there. His attitude with Lutena, the way the responded with one another, Shing wanted all of that to himself. But he had no idea. Until his enviousness gave him one.
“Let’s meet up in the woods tomorrow,” Shing offered as Lutena and Jason were heading out the door.
“Sure,” they said together. More anger and resentment built up in Shing as they looked at each other and giggled. The fresh, crisp air suddenly turned sour.
Lutena and Jason went into the woods a bit early, as it was Jason’s idea. He wanted to take that advantage to have Lutena more than a friend. As Jason went to get Lutena’s hand, Shing walked over and saw. Before he came, he brought a knife with him. He saw Jason reach out for Lutena’s hand, pulled out his knife, and started yelling. Lutena heard and saw that the knife was heading towards Jason and jumped in front of him.
“No!” Jason screamed as the knife pierced her heart. Jason didn’t know what to do, neither did

The novel written by Maryse Conde, I, Tituba, Black Witch of Salem is an interesting novel expanding on the true story of the West Indian slave Tituba, who was accused of witchcraft in Salem Massachusetts. Conde bring Tituba's character out of a historical silence, and creates a personal narrative of childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. Within this tale, Tituba tells her story in first person and although it may be fiction, Conde does well at making it seem it was true. Tituba addresses the trials and tribulations she experienced that eventually lead to her death. This included injustices done towards her as well as tales of love and friendship.…
