Another reason why Romeo and Juliet are not truly in love is that they’re strangers. Romeo and Juliet met at the Capulet party . Romeo sees young Juliet in the distance. They only know each other for 2 days and get married. Back in Romeo and Juliet’s time most marriages were arranged, and no one married for love. Most girls Juliet’s age married an older man and met their husband on their wedding day. Paris actually wanted to get to know Juliet and Romeo didn’t, he felt he already knew her enough in the small time that they spent together.. In Act 3 Romeo asks Juliet to marry him, 4 hours after the party, which is not enough time for anyone to truly fall in love . In Act 2.2.133 ‘’ th’ exchange of thy love’s faithful vow of mine’’ 2.2.150 Juliet informs Romeo ‘’ you want to marry me ,send me word tomorrow, by someone ‘ll send to you’’.
