Lukianoff and Haidt use amplification, definitions, and examples to elaborate on how college campuses and classrooms are being restricted by the ambivalent feelings of the students on campus. While many people have read the article and have formed their own opinions on the information given they have not taken the time to analyze why the authors did what they did. Lukianoff and Haidt had the very unique idea of pulling seemingly random stories together and creating a coherent article that made the readers question what is going in today’s society and high level education schools. This modern evolution is one that could potentially remove any equality that people fought for in equal rights movements, especially any changes to school policy about including more resources on past events. Lukainoff and Haidt state that everyone has to be careful about what they say or they may be accused of “insensitivity, aggression, or worse”. The one thing that everyone seems to want to avoid in modern society is conflict and this revolution that is sweeping schools is taking away any reason that people may have conflict, and sheltering the students from any real world experiences. By bringing in outside testimony the authors are creating a valid authority to their article and this helps with the authenticity of the paper. Two phrases that are used consistently throughout the article are “micro aggressions” and “trigger warnings” (1). These two words are things that teachers and students alike must use in the classroom and that must be stepped around carefully otherwise someone could take offense. By outlining these two phrases and showing how each one affects the college system the authors are giving examples of how these things are used and why they are causing problems for the
