With the Golden Rule, it would be more likely that his brother will treat him with the same respect, empathy, and honesty, than his company would. Many, if not all, companies have strict rules in which they can not release private information about projects or their employees to any outside entity. The benefit of equality within the Golden Rule would cause more benefit from telling his brother, than keeping the loyalty to his company. If his brother would decide that he is not grateful for the information, then the principle of honoring “the thought that counts” would still allow Luke to feel that he made the correct decision. In the Virtue approach, the pros will still outweigh the cons in this situation. If he tells Owen about the development plans, assuming he has a positive character, then he would still be honoring his virtues and personal character. The criticism of this approach in not weighing the consequences would then follow his decision in the future. Overall, The Golden Rule approach is a much stronger approach to making a decision over Virtue Ethics, because it allows one to truly consider all benefits and consequences of choosing either decision, rather than focusing only on inner virtues and
