Unlike the other Gospel accounts he mentions that Jesus spent a night in prayer before choosing his apostles (Luke 6:12-16). Other Gospel accounts show a different focus when portraying Christ. Titles attributed to Jesus that were also included in Mark and Matthew where Christ/Messiah, Son of God, Son of Man, Son of David, and King of Jews. In Luke there was new emphasis that Jesus was Lord of Israel and all nations. That he was also Savior of all but especially the poor. In Luke Jesus was portrayed in his words and actions. It included more narratives of him healing the sick (widow of Nain, Crippled woman, mani with dropsy, and ten lepers). It was also more stories involving foreigners especially Samaritans such as the parable of the good samaritan. The Inaugural Event of Jesus’ public ministry was also mentioned. What are we supposed to do with our lives? These questions in fact keep us up at night. We worry and at times over think without the realization that we just have to be real with God. Who defines whether our job has meaning or whether or not it is our calling? In the generation we live in we at times forget that God has called us to obedience and to walk step by step with him on our journey to inner peace. For only then are we fulfilling our unique calling. Many of us have limited the term "calling" to simply a profession, role or career. In this view, calling is about what we do, not about what we are. In some ways the problem is about our expectation. We have an expectation that our calling is discoverable that waiting around somehow will speed then process up. Sometimes no matter how long we wait or search it will never come. We have an expectation that our calling will be profound. We want to become instant successes, whether it be starting a business or even inventing something that matters. The way I started looking at my calling was just to not be defined by what I’ve been against. To do this requires an extraordinary amount of maturity, you know just being able to say I don't know.
