Moses and Elijah both were there and talked with Jesus. Jesus’ physical and natural appearance changed during the transfiguration. Moses was God’s choice to deliver his people out of bondage. Moses led the Jews; however, Jesus was commissioned to lead the entire world out of bondage. Moses’ journey took 40 years and Jesus’ ministry lasted around three to three in a half years. As Moses was the first deliverer, Jesus was God’s Son who redeemed the whole world. Moses represented the law and Jesus represented the new era for salvation. Elijah represented the prophets and the Holy Spirit came upon the prophets. Jesus opened the door for believers to receive the Holy Spirit. When Jesus started his ministry, the Holy Spirit descended on him like a dove which is symbolic of the baptism of the Holy Spirit which was talked about in Acts 1:4-5. The prophets were limited because the Holy Spirit was not given to man until Jesus came to the earth and fulfilled his ordained destiny. Moses and Elijah accomplished great things, but Jesus showed everyone that he was not limited by the flesh and brought much needed hope to a loss generation.
