There's nothing glamorous about war. But the country's worth fighting for. That's why we do it" (Tillman 261). Another example, is the christening of the USS Enterprise, in which Lucy L. Swanson quotes Shakespeare, "'I have done the State some service'" (Tillman 7 & 254). The purpose that Tillman conveys is the sense to fight for something, in which one believes, specifically, one's nation.
