When you are dreaming it will seam just as real as waking life so you can’t just look around and say you’re not dreaming. You need to prove it to yourself. You could try reading some writing and seeing if it changes or see if gravity performs the way you expect it to. Ask yourself consistently and it will carry over into your dreaming world. You will perform a reality check in your dream and you will then become lucid. This does take practice as I have had dreams were small slug like monsters were continuity knocking at my front door which opened up to a dark blank void (one of my weirdest dreams). I asked myself, am I dreaming here, this is not normal. I looked around and just come to the conclusion that everything is completely normal and I am in me standard day.
