Hi Rudin, Thanks for letting me know of your upcoming run-through. No I'm not sick and tired at all, I am excited for you (tired maybe lol). If I would live closer I wouldn't have to think about it at all, even with the Rose Bowl on at the same time. I am not surprised the maestro would not like to have anybody at the rehearsal, I was actually thinking of asking for myself, but I dismissed the thought for that reason, remember in London they didn't like it either. Thanks for willing to Skype, but under the circumstances, I will go to the Rose Bowl.…

“Thank you Old Lady Daniels!” I turn to face the faded white picket fence and continue to lightly skip to a rhythm, trying my best to dodge the cracks of the sidewalk leading out of the lady’s house. She sits on the wicker rocking chair on her dull porch that’s coordinates with her dull house which coordinates with this dull atmosphere. Once I start to get close to the road, I turn to face her to offer her a friendly wave. “Goodbye, Gregory.…

When the characters of My Children! My Africa! give monologues alone onstage they are able to reveal things to the audience that they can't say to one another. The relationships between the characters are quite constrained by age, race, and propriety; Thami and Mr. M have difficulty communicating because of their roles as teacher and student, while Isabel and Thami have different views on race relations and gender equality. During these monologues, the audience can travel in time to Thami's past as he reflects on his views on education under apartheid, or hear Isabel's true thoughts about the location before she became friends with anyone from there. The plot is punctuated by these interspersed monologues, and they deepen the audience's understanding…
