During his initial assignment CPT Meyering deployed with the 1st BN, 6th Field Artillery, 3rd BCT, 1st ID as the Battalion Physician deploying to Forward Operating Base Gabe, Baqubah, Iraq. He stabilized and evacuated 20 major trauma and combat wounded Soldiers via air and ground with zero dying of wounds. CPT Meyering earned his Combat Medical Badge while conducting multiple missions with the Forward Aid Station for treating Soldiers under fire. He took an active role in stability operations by assisting the Minister of Health for the Diyala Province, providing key medical assessments for the Baqubah General Hospital to help improve health service capabilities. Upon his return CPT Meyering served as the Medical Director, US Army Health Clinic in Grafenwoehr. He made significant contributions to improve patient care by overseeing the reconstruction of the clinic’s emergency, treatment and isolation rooms. He is a graduate of ILE and the AMEDD Officer Advance courses. All throughout his career he has distinguished himself in an elite class of medical scholars he has served as a presenter at 16 speaking engagements, conducted three research projects, had three peer reviewed publications, and five book chapters published. LTC Meyering’s impact on mentoring and training hundreds of resident physicians and medical students throughout the AMEDD is immeasurable. He is truly in the top 1% of his field.
