In the allegorical novella, Animal Farm, by George Orwell, the animals are used to represent real life people during the Russian Revolutionary War. In the beginning, Old Major inspires the animals to unite and riot against Mr. Jones, and his men. Then, the animals attempt to create a Utopian society, but do not succeed, because the pigs take on characteristics of human beings. The seven principles of animalism are altered throughout the novel, causing a dictatorship, and malignity from the pigs. However, one of the main characters, Boxer, is loyal, dedicated, and powerful, and without him the farm would not have succeeded as long as it did.
