Do people really care about their health? Or do they care about the satisfaction they receive from drinking a big substance of soda? Obesity has been a problem for many years, but in the recent years it has become a bigger problem than it ever has been. The first suggestion of lowering obesity rate was banning soda, which was introduced by Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of New York. In the recent discussion of whether banning 16oz soda cups, a way of lowering obesity rate, and arguable issue has been whether it will be efficient in lowering the obesity rate or not. On one hand, many people argue that it would be the first step to decreasing the obesity rate altogether. On the other hand, however, others argue that banning soda cups large than 16oz will not stop people from consuming more than one cup at a time, and it will not benefit in lowering the obesity rate. The issue is whether it would be beneficial to ban large soda cups, or would it be a waste of time. Although some argue that there should be no restriction on soda cups as people should be able to consume any size they wish, I argue that we should consider banning large soda cups, for the reason that, it will lessen sugar consumption, people will not suffer with health problems such as heart problems and diabetes, and it will help reduce the rate of obesity for children and teenagers.

Though soda may not be one of the biggest problems concerning obesity, but it could be the first step to eliminating obesity.…
