Teenagers are more impulsive because the pleasure center of the brain develops before the impulse control. Binge drinkers or heavy drinkers are eight times more likely to miss classes or fall behind in schoolwork, and people who have their first drink at the legal drinking age are up to six times less likely to have alcohol problems later on in life. Therefore, if the legal drinking age is lowered, a lot of young people are more likely to become addicted to alcohol, and there will be nothing we can do about it.
