While there are several reasons that support why it would benefit universities the one that stands out most is bringing in more students. If you look at big universities, most would agree that they want a large student base. Without students how do you progress and make your university bigger and better? Simple, you can not. If you lower tuition prices it opens a wider range of students to attend that university. Having a lower tuition price would give certain students that do not have the ability to attend simply because they can't afford going to college or afford to have significant student debt. Reducing tuition would bring in more students, and while the tuition may be lower, having more students attending the university would mean more students paying to come to the university. Universities could then expand and grow, they could offer students more majors to explore and other academic options to experience. It would also give good publicity to a university that they had a lower tuition price so that schools could focus more on the aspect of education and not just bringing in more
