This became boring and I eventually lost interest. My senior year of high school I was placed in another class, a normal event for me by then, where I came across a very good teacher named Mr. Mike Britton. Mr. Britton was always willing to help me with math. Even though I was not technically in his class, I did use his classroom for my independent studies. He was always willing to teach me, at a slower pace, the math a senior in high school should be taking, like algebra. He was the first teacher to help me in this way. Before getting help from Mr. Britton, I felt like I was never going to be able to take normal math classes. After spending time working with him, I was not so discouraged about math and started to enjoy it. I am surprised how much math he has learned from some of the programs he watches and even the children’s applications on his apple touch. He is always asking me questions about math and I am happy that he is interested in math so early in life. I know that when he is older, I am going to have a hard time helping him with his homework. I am looking forward to taking algebra and even learning statistics. I think after taking these classes, I will be better prepared for the time when my son is taking higher math in school and needs my help. The math classes for my degree may be the hardest classes in the whole program for me, but this time I am not going to give up. I am going to seek out help when I need it. I will use any and all resources given to me. I may even ask my old teacher and now friend, Mr. Britton for help. I read an article called “Defining My Dyslexia” (Charlton, 2013) about a man who went through the same things I did in school. Even through all of that he was successful. He has written two novels and even went to medical school. This has inspired me to do whatever it takes to be successful and at this point in my life I am ready for the
