For many centuries, socioeconomic remained as a huge bio ethnic issue among many individuals, specially designating people with low socioeconomic status and how much effect it has on one’s life. First, what is a socioeconomic status? This term is usually referred to a “total or final measure of a person’s economic or sociological status and where they are from”. A person’s economic is often used to indicate an individual work experience and of the individual’s income. Because of the creation of these categories, the poor’s were often looked down upon and were often discriminated against. The main issue that still remains until today’s society is that peoples with low socioeconomic status tend to be receiving poorer treatment in the health care system. Because of the fact that one’s income is low and that their education status or social position may not be as great as the middle or high class, they suffer a major issue in term of poorer treatments by the society. In addition, racism was one factor why some individual did not receive any benefit or poor benefit in term of health as a matter fact. A recent interview study of 842 patient encounters were sample and the result came out to be that “physicians tend to perceive African Americans and members of low socioeconomic group more negatively than the white and upper socioeconomic group” (Van Ryn n.p). This gives us an overview of how African American are treated by society and because they are African, they are limited to health care and the assistance of a physician. In addition, it shows the white and upper level of socioeconomic would receive a broader range of treatment than a African American whom would receive inadequate treatment just because of their ethnicity and race, which simplifies into an ethnicity inequality of health care/treatments Another example that was shown racism was when one out of the four African American population reported serious illness, they were not able to have any ambulatory visit while compared to one of the six white’s population where every white’s whom reported was able to visit for a checkup.(Becker n.p).
