Low SAT Score Analysis

Improved Essays
As you observe my test scores, you will notice that I have low SAT Scores. The reason for this is that I may have an unidentified disability when it comes to testing. I have anxiety and it is really hard for me to concentrate on standardized tests because my mind wanders a lot too much with a room full of people. I can barely tolerate low sounds in the room like coughing, sneezing, and pages being turned. I am also very slow in timing when it comes to critical reading.

I am able to read and understand passages as I go through, but I need the time to focus otherwise I rush through it and I do not understand what I am reading. I always had trouble with reading comprehension no matter how many books I have read. I still did not improve. I

I would like to address my low MCAT score. When preparing for the MCAT, I was able to increase my scores on the practice exam to a 505. However, due to poor time management during the actual exam, I was unable to complete a majority of questions and answers on two sections. After receiving my rather devastating, but not surprising score, I immediately signed up to retake the exam at the next available date, as I was under the impression that my low score was the result of my lack of time management. While my time management improved significantly on the second attempt, and I was able to improve my score, the score was still not even close to what I had scored on my practice exams.…

In my last essay, How I Read, I stated that I would use a combination of skimming and speed reading to read Frankenstein. You added that when I read I should put the story first, but not forget any thoughts or questions that I have had. You also said that I should do a reflection of the reading after I am done reading. I have done a pretty good job at keeping my word on how I/ you wanted me to read. The article, Literary Studies and Interpreting Literary Texts, discussed how to speed read and how I wanted to read.…

The SAT Needs Change After almost a year after taking the SAT, I ask myself, what was the point of it? Was all my hard work throughout high school taken in vain because of a single exam that, for the most part, didn’t recognize? Following that 3 hour exam, I am sure that this is what many students (along with myself) thought. They were greatly devastated knowing that this was their opportunity in setting their foundation for their future and that they weren’t guaranteed a better score.…

Makayla. This person relied too heavily on her Sequence learning pattern and could not finish her work in time. If she takes a moment to look over the project or test she is working on, and uses Confluence to get the bigger picture of the task she is up against, I think it would help her manage her time better. She can spot the questions she knows for certain and get them completed, allowing her the time to get back to the problem she is trying to figure out. This would ensure that she didn’t miss out on her chance to finish more of the test, on the questions she knew, rather than leaving it blank because she was stuck on one that she didn’t know.…

My approach to reading has changed over the semester. Before this class, I would just read without taking notes. In reading, I would just read instead of looking up the difficult word or using context clues to figure out what the word means. Now during my reading I annotate and look up unknown vocabulary words. When I look up the difficult word, I would find the closest appropriate definition.…
