These prejudices exist on a very large scale, although for most people it is an unconscious bias. There is an economically unexplainable sector of the pay gap, as calculated by 'the comprehensive review of women in the US economy' of about 4-8 percent. This 4-8 percent gap cannot be explained through women working in lower paid professions or having less paid hours. This sector of the wage gap is most likely caused by gender discrimination. Companies that attempt to address unconscious bias through training programs and other equality programs will assist in reducing prejudice. This fact magnifies the need for pay transparency, so that all female workers are aware of what their male counter-parts are
