This low-key response refers to the actions the teacher makes in order to gain students respect and to see the teacher as not only a teacher but a likeable, caring person (Bennett & Smilanich, 1994). The classroom has had many relief teachers and inconsistency’s over the year and due to this the students are wary of new people who join their class, due to this it is important to have a strong focus on creating positive relationships with the students (McDonald, 2013). I believe that although building and fostering relationships is a constant point of improvement throughout the whole practicum, in this case it is really important to have the strongest focus on this LKR during the first week.
