In the “Titanic” film, the lighting is very important because it shows the suspense of the tragedy. The film offers a low-key and a high-key lighting. The only time where a high-key lighting is used is when the passengers are boarding the ship. After the ship departs, a low-key lighting is used. In this film a low-key lighting intensifies the viewer’s mood because of the fear of drowning as the ship is sinking and the romance. “Low-key lighting is often used for intense dramatic scenes, horror films, mystery thrillers, and the like”. (Goodykoontz, B., & Jacobs, C. P. (2014)).
