The public does not see the benefits of a vegetarian diet, because they are not educated in nutrition as other nations are. It seems unreasonable and in a sense ridiculous to choose a diet such as a vegetarian diet. Many people would agree with this statement, because there are countries out there that only have fruit and they are starving. To eliminate meat from a diet is not good, because there is not as much protein in one vegetable as there is in one bite of chicken. Meat is essential to a diet, because it also has more iron. Both protein and iron are very important for the human body to function properly. In Figure 2 in Sabate’s article shows a curve chart of a comparison between meat and vegetable diet. The curve shows that there is more nutrition deficiency probability in a vegetarian diet than meat based diet. With that being said it is better for people to eat a meat-based diet, if they had to choose. The chart also shows a middle ground called “optimal” which shows that a meat-based diet is just as beneficially equal to a vegetarian diet, but there is less of a likelihood that the meat-based diet would give less of a deficiency than a vegetarian diet. It should also be noted that meat also lasts longer than veggies or fruits. It does not rot as fast as plant-based …show more content…
Meat is the easier option to get more protein in your body, and you don’t need to eat as much as you do as a vegetarian to get the same amount of proteins. Proteins are important because it keeps fat from storing by sustaining your muscles. Sabate would argue for vegetarianism, but would agree that it’s easier to have a meat-based diet. Athletes that have to use a lot of protein to sustain a healthy, athletic body would have a hard time with a vegetarian diet and it would be easier on them to eat meat. It is proven that vegetarian is a healthier option but some people do it to be healthy which sometimes is counter effective when they do not research what they need to eat and how much to get as much from their diet. There are many reasons why being a vegetarian is not considered by a lot of people. For some it’s not a viable option, due to time constraints, higher costs, and lack of knowledge about nutrition, which does not fascinate many to regard it highly. It is much easier and faster to incorporate meat in one’s meal and avoid the hassle of nutritional
