In the novel “The Outsiders” by S.E Hinton, we learn that through the support of a loving community, you will feel more loved, boost your self-confidence levels and help you feel supported.
Having a loving community is beneficial since it helps make you feel loved. A quote in the novel that supports this idea is, “His father was always beating him up, and his mother ignored him...He would have run away a million times if we hadn't been there. If it hadn't been for the gang, Johnny would never have known what love and affection are.” (Hinton 11). What this quote is saying is that if it hadn't been for the gang, Johnny would be alone. However this didn't stop his parents from abusing him, but it did help him cope while going through his family injustice. Without the love he received from his gang members, he would most likely be a lot more depressed than he already was.

This shows that he would have helped them out and supported them no matter what because they were members of his
