Lovienthal: A Short Story

Lovienthal said with a small, ingratiating smile, hoping to win him over, “they’re really bad for the environment.” The man gave Lovienthal an odious look, having been still upset over the red light incident. “What?” he asked sententiously as his eyebrows narrowed, the creases in his forehead working themselves into deep furrows. The look of rage on the man’s face reminded Lovienthal of the look that his old man would get when every time he would talk about anything that his dad deemed to be hippy crap. “Yeah, you know,” Lovienthal began again cautiously, “those SUV's put out a lot of pollution and—” Incredulous over the fact that Lovienthal would even speak to him; the man stepped up getting into Lovienthal’s face saying, “You know what? Maybe, you shouldn’t tell me how to spend my money, Dirt Bag!” he then quickly began snatching up his items from the counter before Mary finished ringing them up. …show more content…
