Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man and Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man may seem to be vastly similar throughout both films with them dealing with science fanatic and orphan kid Peter Parker, the essentials being the same just brought upon in different ways and events but closely analyzing each film they seem to have specific distinctive traits. Amongst those traits they include the love interest between different girls, the altered way they produce their web, and the identical way he loses his uncle.
To begin with, the love interest that goes on with the main character Peter Parker and the girl he is passionate for between these two movies is highly unalike. Two different females with unique personalities and a special story behind themselves individually, making each film have an exceptional love story to it. Firstly, in the movie Spider-Man Peter Parker falls for his senior class mate Mary Jane Watson. Mary Jane is a young girl who dreams of being in the acting business in order to leave her abusive father who she lives with. Living next to Peter and his aunt and uncle, she has been his childhood and high school crush. At the time she is dating Peter’s bully Flash Thompson, who later on she breaks up with. Later on in the movie she also dates Harry Osborn, Peter’s best friend whom she leaves for peter after she begins to recognize how much he cares for her and how badly he wants to be with her. On the other hand, In The Amazing Spider-Man Peter shows affection towards Gwen Stacy. Gwen is also a classmate of Peter who has been there for him since the beginning. She is the daughter of the chief of police for New York City, who ironically is on the hunt for Spider-Man. Both of them are extremely interested when it comes to science and are rivals academically, making a bond like no other. They both became romantically involved after he was over for dinner, where he surprised her by showing his identity as Spider-Man. After that Gwen is really the only person who truly knows Peter, then there is a closeness that develops between the both of them that neither of them have with anyone else currently in their lives. In addition, the way web came about traditionally from the original Spider-Man differed due to the way it was presented in The Amazing Spider-Man. In the movie Spider-Man Peter was bit by a radioactive spider, its venom causing numerous changes all over Peter’s body that gave him his powers. Included in those powers was the ability to shoot web through his wrist the moment his two middle fingers touched back on his palm. To the contrary, The Amazing Spider-Man has the same theory behind the radioactive spider but does not show exactly how it affects Peter like it did in Spider-Man. Him shooting web was his most distinguishing trait which is why it was so obvious when they showed his new way of producing web. Peter was
