When the plane lands Schwatz writes a note to Stahr waring him about Pat Brady which is Cecilia’s father. He stays behind and when the plane leaves he commits suicide. After a few moments, two women come floating down the flood on the head of a prop statue. Stahr is instantly infatuated with one of the women because of her resemblance to his deceased wife. Stahr clears the mess, but the earthquake caused a part of set to break off and float away in the flood. He takes a good look at Cecilia and she starts to remind him of his wife. That same night they both fall in love with each other. Stahr manages everything from the studio, he takes a lot of chances and produces what films he thinks are good even if they lose money. Unfortunely the studios stock holders don’t trust him and only see this studio as a business and not as art like Stahr does. Not only that his writers are being targeted by Communist union organizers. He tries his best to get his writers to trust him. One writer named Wylie white dislikes Stahr, he was hoping to marry Cecilia for her fathers power. After the Earthquake Stahr had seen a women in the back lot and had interest in her but lost her. He eventually found her again. Kathleen Moore was reluctant to meet him, but eventually The second girl refuses to agree to meet Stahr anywhere and refuses to tell him her name. Stahr
