We all have choices in this world, to let go or to hold on. To do something good or bad. To look at what is truly there, or believe in what we cannot see. We all will fall in love in some moment of our lifetime, whether it’s when we are young or when we are old. Some of us stay in love and some of us move on because we know what is best for the people we love. It is ideal that we fall in love young and stay together until our death bed. Especially if you were brought up in the church, when it is frowned upon to get divorced or to cheat. When something happens like this, especially when you are well respected in the community, people will choose to ignore it or the truth will spread like wildfire.
This reminds me of the story, Love Medicine, where Grandma Marie and Grandpa Nector Kashpaw lived with their grandson, Lipsha Marrisey. Throughout the story we find out that Grandpa Nector is having an affair with Lulu Lamatine. Grandpa Nector is a well-respected member of his community and when Lipsha finds out about the affair he keeps his mouth closed. Society automatically thinks that when someone cheats, that they are a terrible person. However, in this case Grandpa Nector is sick with Alzheimer’s so he does not remember some of his actions. She puts the rest of the heart in a salad, Grandpa Nector grows suspicious and tries to refuse his dinner. While Grandma Marie urges him to eat the salad, he finally gives in and eats it. However, when he eats the salad he chokes and dies. Lispha and his grandmother are in shock of what just happened in front of them and the go unconscious. This shows that we make our own choices in this world. They may be right or they may just ruin your life forever. Even though Lipsha was trying to help his grandparent’s relationship, I can’t help but wonder if he used the geese heart if it would’ve turned out

Throughout my lifetime, there has been moments of laughter as well as grief. But a moment in my life that was pivotal was when I first felt the love of my life, at the moment, fade away slowly from me and sort of detach from our relationship. The song by Christian Nodal- “Adios Amor” showed me how at times when the love fades between partners to the point where there is no love at all, you have to do your best to move on rather than spending time grieving the love that is lost. Therefore, the song “Adios Amor” gave me the tough realization that some relationships are best to let go of if they don’t work as a young adult, and will continue to guide me throughout my life.…

Many people assume that their perspective of the world, specifically about love, is that it is straightforward and simple, and that everyone gets a fairytale ending. However, that is not always the case, and usually never is. As seen in pieces like Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, and “When Love Arrives” by Sarah Kay & Phil Kaye, it shows that love is unpredictable, complex, and involves varying levels of emotion. Brave New World and “When Love Arrives” both display perspectives of love being erratic.…

Humans have always looked for the answer to finding happiness in life. For the majority of people, they believe that love will bring them this sense of happiness. In Barbara Fredrickson’s, “Selections from Love 2.0: How Our Supreme Emotion Affects Everything We Feel, Think, Do and Become,” she talks about how we see love in the wrong way and that we should start looking at love the way the body sees it.
