Relationship cognition has many positive outcomes in a marital relationship, and links positive association between one’s goal progress and well being. According to Fitzsimons and Bargh (2003), relationship cognition goes hand-in-hand with goal pursuits because it primes an individual’s connection with its partner, making the individual more motivated, hence the term “relationship cognition”, associating an individual with a relationship. One example of this is a husband in a family working over sixty hours a week to support the love of his life, his children, and putting dinner on the table for his family.
