In many movies and books there has always been a love triangle, it's what makes a romantic story good. In MidSummer Night's Dream they had a love rectangle where you were fighting for who they love, which with four people took things to the next level. I think William Shakespeare is saying that love is great, deep, and amazing. But he also made it clear that it's not easy, and you have to fight for what you love no matter who's trying to stop you.
